Current data sources and what each one contributes
IP-Lookup.com combines different sources because geolocation, network registration, DNS and security intelligence answer different questions. We avoid presenting one source as an all-purpose ground truth.
The browser can query the free endpoint directly for the core report, with a same-origin server fallback when necessary.
Provider documentationWhen configured, the server-side integration can add VPN, proxy, Tor, hosting, malicious and risk-related signals while keeping the API credential off the client.

These diagnostics run in the visitor's browser. Browser privacy protections can intentionally reduce the information WebRTC exposes.
Why sources can disagree
IP address allocations, routing, ISP infrastructure, mobile gateways, VPN endpoints and database update schedules change. Different providers may map the same address to different cities or regions. That disagreement is not a bug in the interface; it is useful evidence about the limits of city-level IP geolocation.
Data-source changes
Providers can change APIs, fields, pricing or usage policies. IP-Lookup.com may replace or add sources when necessary. The methodology page describes the interpretation layer separately so that changing a provider does not change what the scores are intended to mean.
